Coronary Angiogram involves an X-ray process that focuses on discovering the insides of coronary arteries. Coronary angiograms are imaging procedures that fall in the heart (cardiac) catheterization groups of procedures.
Heart catheterization procedures are conducted with a primary objective to diagnose heart problems and offer curative measures. A coronary angiogram is the most common and effective heart catheterization procedure that helps experts to identify the condition of the heart accurately.
The coronary angiography test involves the injection of a special type of dye that is noticeable by an X-ray machine. The dye is introduced in the blood vessels of the heart and the X-ray machine produces a number of images in an orderly sequence, which is known as angiograms. These pictures depict an accurate representation of the insides of the heart’s blood vessels. It helps doctors to understand if the blood vessels are blocked or narrowed down and accordingly proceed with procedures such as angioplasty if necessary.
